Bubble/submersion leak test – steel drums
A user-friendly solution to pinpointing leak locations.
With our Submersion tester for tight head steel drums, an operator is able to easily perform a leak test on a produced or reconditioned steel drum. The tester is made to automatically push the drum under water, and keep it there while the operator performs the analysis.
The drum is filled with compressed air, the pressure will stay on the drum for the time that the tests are carried out. In this case, when a leak is in the drum, the compressed air will leave the drum while being under water, causing bubbles to show up.
With this leak testing method you are able to detect very small leaks without a tracer gas or vacuum. It is also easy to pinpoint the location of the leaks in the product. However, the tested product will get wet during the test.
A combination that we see more often is the bubble leak tester together with one of our fully-automatic solutions (for example an automatic helium leak tester). Every product gets tested in-line by a fully-automatic tester, the products that are detected as “leaking” will be taken separately for the bubble tester. With the bubble tester, a quick determination can be made if these leaks are caused by a malfunction in the production line or something else. Every product in-line will be tested this way, while every production step can be actively managed. This provides quality assurance and maximum efficiency.
